Pedestrian Crash at Canyon Road Resulted in Fatality

REDDING, CA (September 12, 2023) – Thursday night, an auto-pedestrian collision on Highway 273 claimed the life of one person. 

The deadly incident happened around 8:20 p.m. on Highway 273 at Canyon Road in the city of Redding. 

According to the police, a southbound Nissan Altima failed to stop and hit a “large object” located at the center median of the highway. 

Afterward, the 21-year-old female driver from Redding exited her vehicle and discovered the victim underneath her vehicle. 

Responding officials declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene. However, his identity has not been released to the public, pending notification from his next of kin.
