Auto-Pedestrian Collision in South Wrigley Area Resulted in Fatality

LONG BEACH, CA (September 12, 2023) – Thursday night, a pedestrian crash near Pacific Avenue left a man with fatal injuries. 

Officers responded to the collision around 10:39 p.m. near Pacific Avenue and 23rd Street in the South Wrigley area.

Despite the life-saving efforts of the first responders, the male pedestrian died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner/Coroner will release his identity once the next of kin has been notified.

Meanwhile, the male driver from Long Beach remained at the site of the incident and cooperated with the authorities. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the incident.

A portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a southbound 2016 Dodge Charger on Pacific Avenue hit the victim crossing the street. Police pointed out that the victim was walking outside of a marked crosswalk.
