FRESNO, CA (September 8, 2023) – Thursday morning, a pedestrian crash on Princeton Avenue sent a mother and her two children to a hospital.
The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. near 1st Street and Princeton Avenue near Birney Elementary School, south of Shields Avenue.
According to the police, a red Volkswagen Beetle traveling east on Princeton Avenue turned onto First Street. There, the Volkswagen hit a woman who was walking with her four children in the crosswalk.
Medical responders rushed the mother and her 11-year-old child to a hospital where they remained in critical condition. Her second child, determined to be a 4-year-old, was also hospitalized after complaints of pain.
The 70-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. In addition, investigators said the driver ran past a red light, resulting in the collision.
