Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on R Street [Merced, CA]
Auto-Pedestrian Collision near Loughborough Drive Left One Dead
MERCED, CA (September 7, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on R Street.
Police responded to the incident around 5:21 a.m. in the R Street area between Loughborough Drive and Buena Vista Drive.
According to the investigators, police were called to the area after the woman was spotted passing motorists. Although, it was unclear what she was doing in the roadway prior to the incident.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman lying in the roadway with injuries consistent with a pedestrian crash.
Despite the life-saving efforts of the paramedics, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. At this time, her identity remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.
Police report that they are looking for a full-size pickup truck that may have struck the victim and fled the scene.
