Male Rider Dead, Woman Hospitalized after Pursuit Collision on Washington Avenue [Escondido, CA]
22-Year-Old Lake Elsinore Man Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Accident near State Route 76
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 6, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, one man was killed and a woman was hurt in a pursuit collision on Washington Avenue.
Around 12:04 p.m., the rider of a speeding motorcycle was heading south on the freeway near State Route 76.
Investigators say the rider continued into Valley Center and continued west into Escondido where officers lost him.
Shortly after, police located the rider traveling at a high rate of speed and running a red light on Washington Avenue.
There, the motorcyclist struck the front bumper of a northbound vehicle that was heading through Harding Street on a green light. Upon impact, the rider lost control and struck the front of a westbound vehicle.
Responding personnel declared the 22-year-old male motorcyclist dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.
Meanwhile, the female driver inside the second vehicle was hospitalized after complaints of pain. Anyone who witnessed the Washinton Avenue motorcycle crash is asked to contact Officer Paul Smyth at (760) 839-4423.
