Hit-and-Run Collision on Cimmaron Parkway Left Bicyclist Dead
KATY, TX (September 5, 2023) – Late Monday evening, a hit-and-run crash killed 66-year-old cyclist Juan Gutierrez.
The incident happened on August 28th, at around 11:22 p.m., on South Mason Road near Cimarron Parkway.
According to reports, the bicyclist was riding southbound on Mason Road in the outer lane. There, he was rear-ended by a vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the bicyclist to be ejected from the bike and he landed on the grass.
Emergency crews arrived shortly after the collision and performed life-saving efforts on the bicyclist. However, they were unsuccessful, and officials pronounced Juan Gutierrez, 46, dead at the scene, due to the extent of his injuries.
Following the collision, the involved driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. Police are still looking for them.
