Eric Hernandez Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 290 West [Elgin, TX]
23-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Highway 56
ELGIN, TX (September 4, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Eric Hernandez was killed in a head-on crash on U.S. 290 West.
Officers responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m., at the 600 block of U.S. 290 West near Highway 56 on August 26th.
The driver of a pickup-truck was heading east when it crossed over to the center lane and into the path of the 18-wheeler.
Medics arrived and transported the pickup-truck driver to a nearby hospital where he later died. Authorities later identified him as 23-year-old Hernandez, of Bastrop County.
Meanwhile, the driver of the 18-wheeler cooperated with the investigation and remained at the scene. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
