Two Men Pronounced Dead after Crashing into Canal near South Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 28, 2023) – Early Monday, Brian Ivan Medrano and Carlos Eduardo Benitez died in a solo-car accident on Panama Lane.
The fatal incident occurred around 1:48 a.m., in the 4200 block of East Panama Lane near South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.
Per reports, a car plunged into a canal around 2:00 a.m., but crews were unable to determine if anyone was inside due to the current. Emergency crews were later able to extricate the vehicle from the canal with two deceased men inside around 9:50 a.m.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, paramedics pronounced 29-year-old Medrano and 27-year-old Benitez dead at the scene.
At this time, Bakersfield Officials continue to investigate the fatal solo-car crash on Panama Lane.
