Reckless Rollover Incident near Van Buren Street Resulted in Multiple Injuries and One Fatality
PHOENIX, AZ (August 17, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, police responded to a crash that claimed the life of Sergio De La Torre Quintero.
The incident happened on August 13th shortly after 5:00 a.m., near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
According to the Phoenix police, 20-year-old Quintero was driving a vehicle with four passengers when he ran over a stop sign.
Furthermore, as Quintero was recklessly driving, he collided with a vehicle traveling at 35th Avenue.
In addition, Quintero’s passengers were three men and a teen girl, they all suffered injuries with the involved driver.
Unfortunately, emergency responders arrived at the scene and Quintero was pronounced dead. All injured people were transported to the hospital in serious condition but police said they were stable.
Consequently, the officers blocked both lanes of the intersection, and the time to reopen was not released.
Moreover, the authorities suspected impairment as the factor of the incident. Further investigation is still ongoing.
