3 Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Accident near Plaza Drive

VISALIA, CA (August 16, 2023) – Early Monday, Marialuz Zarate, Joshua Diaz, and Cody Robinson died in a rollover crash on Highway 198.

Authorities responded to the scene around 3:45 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Plaza Drive.

Per reports, the driver of a westbound 2004 Ford F-350 veered off the highway and over-corrected before losing control. The Ford then went off the right side of the freeway and overturned several times.

Amidst the chaos, the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle onto the road. In addition, crews located another passenger strapped in her seat unconscious.

Medics pronounced all three occupants dead at the scene. The CHP later identified the three deceased victims as Marialuz Zarate (23), Joshua Diaz (30), and Cody Robison (30).

At this time, authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal rollover crash. The relatives of Diaz and Zarate started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and help the family recover from their loss.
