Traffic Collision on the Antioch Sideshow Left Three People Hospitalized

ANTIOCH, CA (August 14, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, a traffic crash on Ninth Street left three people with injuries, police said.

According to Sgt. Whitaker, a sideshow occurred at the Antioch Marina and near the Smith’s Landing restaurant, just before 3:00 a.m., August 6th.

Furthermore, multiple collisions were reported that started when a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant, and one vehicle ended up being fully submerged in the San Joaquin River.

In addition, the drivers of both vehicles immediately fled the scene on foot just before the officers arrived.

Consequently, the officers decided to dissolve the sideshow at around 3:00 a.m.

A speeding vehicle without any lights on was then spotted by deputies.

Moreover, the deputies started to pursue the vehicle and eventually, they were stopped.

Following the events, the vehicle struck another car and a fire hydrant in the area of Ninth and G Streets. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old suspect attempted to run away but he was later caught by the authorities.

The driver and the passenger of the involved vehicle were transported to the hospital together with the suspect.

Additionally, the suspect was charged with felony reckless driving and felony hit and run. Authorities will release additional information as it becomes available to the public.
