Woman Killed in Pedestrian-Vehicle Collision on 101 Freeway [Los Angeles, CA]
Semi-Truck Versus Pedestrian Crash near Alvarado Street Resulted in Fatality
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 9, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, a pedestrian-vehicle collision on 101 Freeway in the Echo Park area left a woman fatally injured.
CHP officers responded to the deadly incident around 3:45 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway, near Alvarado Street.
Based on the initial investigation, the woman experienced some vehicle difficulties and pulled over the highway to check her car.
Subsequently, the driver walked into the traffic lanes for unknown reasons, causing her to get hit by a semi-truck.
Responding emergency personnel declared the woman dead at the scene. However, her name and city of residence remain undisclosed to the public, pending notification from her next of kin.
According to CHGP Sgt. Jensen, there are no signs of foul play and the collision appeared to be an accident.
In the end, authorities closed down all the southbound lanes of Highway 101 and diverted motorists to Vermont Avenue. Los Angeles Officials will release additional information as it becomes available to the public.
