Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 [Sacramento, CA]
22-Year-Old Driver Fatally Struck an Unidentified Man near Mack Road
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 7, 2023) – Early Friday morning, a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 claimed the life of a man.
The incident happened on July 28th, at around 2:50 a.m., a pedestrian was struck in the southbound lanes, at Mack Road west off-ramp.
The initial report showed that a 2001 Honda driving at 40 mph exited the highway when a man ran in front of the vehicle. The Honda then struck the man leaving him with serious injuries. The impact of the collision damaged the windshield and the right side mirror of the car.
Emergency crews at the site of the collision declared the man dead at the scene. However, they were unable to identify the man because he was not carrying any identification.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old driver of the Honda was not injured. He remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
In addition, the police said that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the pedestrian accident on Highway 99.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office took over for further investigation.
