Two-Vehicle Crash near Davis Road Kills 26-Year-Old Arizona Woman

PATTERSON, CA (July 27, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, Jose Rivaspineda was hospitalized following a deadly head-on crash on Interstate 5.

The collision occurred along the northbound Interstate 5, just south of Davis Road, between Stuhr Road and Fink Road. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Subaru SUV entered the center median for unknown reasons. Consequently, the Subaru overturned, causing it to drift onto the opposing lanes, colliding with a Peterbilt tractor-trailer. 

Responding emergency personnel declared the Subaru driver dead at the scene. However, officials only identified the driver as a 26-year-old man from Arizona. 

Meanwhile, the big rig driver, 50-year-old Jose Rivaspineda of Los Banos, sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported Rivaspineda to Los Banos Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

The CHP closed down one lane of Interstate 5 until 3:00 p.m. as crews cleared the scene. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
