Two-Vehicle Collision near Wood Road Left Two People Hospitalized 

OXNARD, CA (July 25, 2023) – Early Friday evening, a two-vehicle crash on 34 Freeway left Jorge Alvarez and another person hospitalized. 

The collision occurred at around 5:15 p.m. along the westbound lanes of Highway 34, just east of Wood Road.

According to the investigators, a black 1995 Nissan sedan collided head-on with a red 2021 Jeep SUV. Photos from the site of the crash revealed that both vehicles received significant damages. 

Responding medical personnel airlifted the Nissan driver to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Later, police identified the Nissan driver as 70-year-old Jorge Alvarez of Van Nuys. 

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Jeep driver from Searcy, Arkansas, was transported to St. John’s Hospital for moderate injuries. Their name remains undisclosed to the public. 

The California Highway Patrol closed the span of the westbound 34 Freeway for at least two hours as crews cleared the scene. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the head-on crash remain under investigation.
