12-Year-Old Boy Killed Following Two-Vehicle Crash near Myers Street

OCEANSIDE, CA (July 17, 2023) – Tuesday night, police arrested Edward Minot Jr. after a fatal two-car accident on Mission Avenue.

The incident occurred at around 11:00 p.m., July 4th near Myers Street, according to Oceanside Authorities.

As per reports, officers tried to stop a white Volkswagen GTI, but the driver fled north on Myers Street, colliding with a blue Nissan Altima and traveling east on Surfrider Way.

Tragically, a 12-year-old boy passenger of the Altima died in the collision. His name is withheld pending notification of kin.

Meanwhile, medics rushed other passengers in the Altima, a 27-year-old and a 6-year-old, who had non-life-threatening injuries. Two of the Volkswagen’s occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police eventually arrested Edward Minot Jr., a 20-year-old Marine, on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
