12-Year-Old Boy on Dead after DUI Accident near 230th Street

KENT, WA (July 14, 2023) – Tuesday night, a DUI collision on 132nd Avenue claimed the life of 12-year-old Gabriel Coury.

The incident happened on July 11th, at around 7:00 p.m., on 132nd Avenue Southeast, just south of Sunrise Elementary School.

According to reports, Gabriel Coury was on his way home from the park riding his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man. Gabriel’s mother, Shellie Coury, heard a loud bang and went to investigate. She found her son laying in the road.

First responders arrived shortly after and performed life-saving efforts on Gabriel. However, his injuries were too severe. Officials pronounced 12-year-old Gabriel Coury dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved driver was found near the area and he was arrested by authorities. Police report that the suspect was driving under the influence. He admitted to drinking four cans of alcoholic iced tea before getting behind the wheel.

The family of Gabriel Coury has set up a GoFundMe page to support the costs of his funeral.
