Raul Zepeda Gonzalez Dead, Julian Sosa Arrested after Head-On Collision on Campbell Avenue [Tucson, AZ]
33-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Crash on Canada Street
TUCSON, AZ (July 13, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Raul Zepeda Gonzalez died, and Julian Sosa was arrested after a head-on collision.
Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police responded to the scene on Campbell Avenue near Canada Street.
Per reports, the driver of a Toyota FJ Cruiser was swerving in and out of lanes at a high rate of speed. Eventually, the Cruiser veered across the center line and struck an oncoming white 2001 Nissan Altima head-on.
Medics arrived and pronounced the driver of the Nissan, 33-year-old Gonzalez, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took his 31-year-old female passenger to Banner UMC in critical condition.
Crews also took the driver of the Toyota, 22-year-old Julian Anselmo Sosa to a hospital before he was booked into the Pima County Jail. Officers charged Sosa with manslaughter, aggravated assault, and felony criminal damage.
During cleanup and preliminary duties, police located drugs and paraphernalia inside the Nissan.
