Two-Vehicle Crash Near Aromas Left 67-Year-Old Salinas Man Dead

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (July 13, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a head-on accident on San Juan Road left an elderly person with fatal injuries. 

According to CHP, the collision occurred around 5:18 a.m. along westbound San Juan Road, just north of Prundale. 

Police said an eastbound 2010 Chrysler Town and County van crossed the solid double yellow line for unknown reasons. As a result, the Chrysler collided directly with a 2018 Chevrolet Express traveling in the opposite direction on San Juan Road. 

Responding medical personnel declared the Chrysler driver dead at the scene. He was only described by the Monterey County coroner as a 67-year-old man from Salinas.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the driver of the Chrysler to a local hospital for treatment of significant injuries. The 12 other passengers inside the Chrysler complained about pain due to the collision. 

No further details regarding the San Juan Road head-on crash have been released to the public. Monterey County officials will provide more information once available.
