Suspected DUI Collision near Fairview Street Kills 20-Year-Old Woman

MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 12, 2023) – Monday morning, Emillianne Audler was pronounced dead following a head-on collision on Ellis Street.

The fatal crash happened around 4:00 p.m. in the area of Ellis Street and Fairview Street. 

According to the investigators, an eastbound black pickup truck drove into the opposing lanes at high speeds for unknown reasons. 

As a result, the pickup collided head-on with another vehicle traveling westbound on Ellis Street. 

Upon arrival, emergency personnel declared the driver of the second vehicle dead at the scene. She was later identified as 20-year-old Emillianne Audler.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the pickup driver, 38-year-old Michael Messer, to a hospital in a critical condition. 

Investigators determined that Meser was driving with a suspended license. In addition, court records revealed that Messer previously had two DUI cases – one in 2018 and another in 2020. 

The family of Audler has started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. 

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal head-on crash.
