At Least Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Collision at Mira Mesa Boulevard near Interstate 805
SORRENTO VALLEY, CA (July 11, 2023) – Three individuals sustained injuries Sunday night after a head-on crash at Mira Mesa Boulevard.
The accident happened at 8:53 p.m. on May 28th near Interstate 805. Authorities responded to a report of two vehicles that collided in the area.
As per reports, a 26-year-old woman in a 2014 Ford Transit van was driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes and crashed head-on with a 2017 Honda Civic carrying a man and woman inside.
Officers said the 44-year-old woman in the Civic’s passenger seat suffered life-threatening injuries including a punctured liver, stomach bleeding, and multiple rib fractures. While the 42-year-old man driving the car suffered minor abrasions to his arms as well as pain in his right hip and back.
The van driver, who suffered internal injuries, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
