Pedestrian Crash near Cosumnes River Boulevard Left One Fatality
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA (July 10, 2023) – Friday morning, a pedestrian-auto collision on Highway 99 claimed the life of one person.
The deadly incident happened along the southbound Highway 99, near the Cosumnes River Boulevard off-ramp.
According to CHP, a pedestrian attempted to run across the northbound lanes of the freeway and crossed the median.
Consequently, the man was struck by a blue Budget Truck. Police did say the driver stayed and cooperated with the investigators.
Responding medical personnel declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene. However, his remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.
The incident blocked the No.1 and 2 lanes of Highway 99 to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. Authorities do not suspect DUI to be a factor in the incident.
At this time, South Sacramento Officials are asking anyone with further information about the Highway 99 pedestrian-auto collision to contact them immediately.
