Head-On Collision Near Red Mountain Road Kills 20-Year-Old Camp Pendleton Marine

OCEANSIDE, CA (July 6, 2023) – Sunday morning, a motorcycle collision with a pickup truck on Sage Road claimed the life of Joshua Crain.

The high-speed crash happened around 9:50 a.m. on Sage Road, just north of Red Mountain Road five miles south of Hemet. 

According to reports, a northbound 2016 BMW S1100 motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed approached a curve in the roadway. Investigators said the motorcyclist failed to negotiate the curve and lost control of the motorcycle. 

As a result, the rider slid across the double yellow lines of Sage Road and collided head-on with a southbound 2011 Nissan Frontier. 

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist suffered significant injuries and died at the scene. Officials identified him as 20-year-old Camp Pendleton-based marine, Joshua Crain.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
