55-Year-Old Man Killed in DUI Pedestrian Accident near West Pioneer Avenue
LAS VEGAS, NV (June 26, 2023) – Friday, Jovany Pouncil fatally struck Oscar Rios-Rugama in a pedestrian cash on South Decatur Boulevard.
Police responded to the scene around 7:06 p.m., near West Pioneer Avenue on May 13th.
Per reports, a citizen contacted authorities about a black 2012 Volkswagen CC that was traveling recklessly when it veered right and lost control. The sedan then continued heading north on the eastbound sidewalk where it struck several utility poles and a pedestrian.
Medical personnel arrived transported the driver, a passenger, 55-year-old Rios-Rugama to a hospital for further treatment. There, crews pronounced Rios-Rugama dead.
Following preliminary duties, police arrested the involved driver, 27-year-old Pouncil for DUI-related charges resulting in death or substantial bodily harm.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway. Once available, further details will be provided.
