Truck Collision near Broome Road Left One Hospitalized

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 26, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, a traffic accident involving two semi-truck on Highway 58 left at least one person injured. 

Fire personnel responded to the collision around 12:30 p.m. along Highway 58, just east of Broome Road. 

Upon arrival, firefighters located one of the drivers suffering from moderate injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. 

According to the investigators, a semi-truck carrying produce collided with a semi-truck hauling wine parked on the highway shoulder. 

Consequently, the impact caused one of the vehicles to catch on fire. The fire also spread on a grassy hillside in the area. 

Fire units eventually extinguished the grassfire and were limited to about 3 acres of land. In addition, Caltrans reopened one eastbound lane of Highway 58 after the crews cleared out the scene. 

No further details regarding the Highway 58 semi-truck accident have been released to the public. Bakersfield Officials will provide more information once available.
