Several Hospitalized Following Red Light Collision near El Cerro Boulevard

DANVILLE, CA (June 22, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a pursuit crash on Diablo Road left five people with injuries and set one car on fire.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on June 3rd at Diablo Road and El Cerro Boulevard.

According to the CHP, officers tried to pull over the driver of a vehicle but failed to stop, which prompted a chase with the officers.

The driver then continued on Camino Tassajara Road and Blackhawk Road, ran a second red light, and collided with another vehicle.

As a result, the vehicle that fled rolled onto its roof and caught fire. Responding medics discovered five injured victims, including the driver, who suffered major injuries, and took them to a local hospital for treatment. 

In addition, the occupants of the second vehicle did not sustain any injuries. 

At this time, police have no further information about all parties involved. However, an active investigation into the pursuit crash on Diablo Road is underway.
