69-Year-Old Woman Dies in Vehicle Crash near Howe Avenue

SACRAMENTO, CA (June 19, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, Mary May was killed in a pedestrian collision on Highway 50.

The incident happened on May 30th, at around 4:40 a.m., in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 near Howe Avenue.

According to reports, 69-year-old May was walking in the #1 lane of the highway when a Toyota slammed into her. Investigations showed that the Toyota was driving at 65 mph. The driver tried to avoid hitting May but he was unsuccessful and he struck the victim.

Following the collision, the driver immediately called the authorities and waited at Watt Avenue.

In addition, it was unknown if any other vehicles struck May while officers are on their way.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located May with no signs of life. Officials pronounced her dead, due to the extent of her injuries.

Meanwhile, all eastbound lanes of the Highway were blocked during the incident but were later reopened by 7:15 a.m.
