76-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Jayne Avenue
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (June 19, 2023) – Late Monday night, Geoffrey Balzer was fatally struck in a big-rig collision on Interstate 5.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m., just north of Jayne Avenue on June 5th.
Per reports, 76-year-old Balzer exited his vehicle and was standing on the right shoulder of the roadway. There, 31-year-old Fernando Flores-Roman who was driving a Peterbilt truck failed to see Balzer and struck him.
Upon impact, Balzer suffered life-threatening injuries. Medics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene due to the extent of his condition.
Following preliminary duties, officers determine that impairment did not play a factor.
