Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Giddings Street

VISALIA, CA (June 14, 2023) – Sunday night, James Martinez was arrested after a fatal DUI pedestrian crash on Highway 198.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., near Giddings Street on June 4th.

Per reports, Martinez was driving a vehicle and struck a male pedestrian. First responders arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that Martinez, of Exeter was not at fault but was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, police arrested Martinez for DUI.
