33-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Driver Near Hughes Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 1, 2023) – Monday night, a pedestrian-auto collision along Highway 119 left Ignacio Alejandro Razo with fatal injuries. 

The deadly incident occurred on May 15th at around 10:07 p.m. near Highway 99, east of Hughes Lane. 

Based on the initial investigation, the vehicle hit the pedestrian walking along Taft Highway in South Bakersfield. However, the circumstances that led up to the collision remain unclear. 

Eventually, medical responders arrived at the scene and transported the pedestrian to Kern Medical for significant injuries. 

At around 12:27 a.m. on May 16th, the male victim succumbed to his injuries. Later, the Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased pedestrian as 33-year-old Ignacio Alejandro Razo. 

At this time, it was unclear whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the fatal collision. Reports only stated that the victim was walking along the lanes of the highway. 

No further details regarding the Highway 119 pedestrian have been released to the public. The California Highway Patrol will provide more information once available.
