Deputy, 2 Others Injured After Drive-By Shooting Ends in Two-Vehicle Collision near Highway 156 

CASTROVILLE, CA (May 31, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, an injury crash on Castroville Boulevard following a drive-by shooting leads to the arrest of Ronald Anthony Acosta.

Deputies responded to the incident around 2:01 p.m. along Highway 156 and Castroville Boulevard. 

Upon arrival, the deputies spotted the suspect and initiated a pursuit. However, the deputy collided with another uninvolved vehicle while turning onto Castroville Boulevard. 

Eventually, emergency personnel arrived at the scene and rushed the deputy to Natividad Medical Center. Paramedics also transported the two occupants of the other vehicle to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

In addition, authorities managed to locate and pull over the suspect’s vehicle a short while after. Police arrested and booked 39-year-old Ronald Anthony Acosta in Monterey County Jail for violating parole, assault with a deadly weapon, and other charges. 

The two passengers inside Acosta’s vehicle, a 14 and 15-year-old male, were also charged with assault with a deadly weapon. They were eventually released to their parents at the scene.
