24-Year-Old Homeless Scooter Rider Died after a Vehicle Collision near Fresno Street
FRESNO, CA (May 25, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, police responded to a collision that claimed the life of Oswald Capistran.
On April 19, just before 1:00 a.m., officers were called to the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Fresno Street involving a scooter and vehicle collision.
According to the authorities, a Razor Scooter driven by 24-year-old Capistran and a Dodge Caravan were involved in the collision.
Furthermore, investigation showed that the driver was driving northbound when he struck Oswald who was riding in the right lane of northbound Hwy 99.
Consequently, the driver was unable to maneuver away from Oswald and caused him to be ejected from his scooter.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge attempted to pull out Oswald from the highway but he was unsuccessful.
Unfortunately, Oswald was struck by two other passing vehicles and he was pronounced dead.
Following the crash, police ruled out alcohol or drugs as the factor of the incident.
