Man, Woman Dead after Vehicle Hit on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 24, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Elmer Santos ended up killing two people after crashing into their vehicle.
It happened in the 3998 block of South Normandie Avenue near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at around 12:30 a.m., May 21st.
According to LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey, a white Jeep Wrangler Rubicon driven by 31-year-old Santos and a white BMW occupied by 20-year-old Maria Belen Polanco and Kevin Castillo were the vehicles involved in the incident.
Upon investigation, the officers learned that the BMW was about to exit at the drive-thru of a Burger Factory when Santos, traveling at high speed, struck them.
Furthermore, deputies responded to the scene and tried to extricate Castillo and Polanco but they were unsuccessful.
In addition, the officers said that the impact instantly killed Castillo and Polanco.
Meanwhile, the officers found liquor in Santos’ vehicle. He was then taken into custody with murder charges.
