Two-Vehicle Collision near Scott Road Kills 34-Year-Old Perris Woman
WINCHESTER, CA (May 17, 2023) – Sunday evening, Yvette Amezcua was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 79.
The deadly collision happened around 5:10 p.m. along State Route 79 at the intersection of Scott Road and Washington Street.
According to the CHP, a westbound 2020 Nissan Armada crossed the double-painted yellow lines into the eastbound lane. There, the Nissan veered into the path of an eastbound 2020 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 49-year-old Hemet man.
Investigators said the Hemet man attempted to avoid the Nissan, but the two vehicles collided head-on. The impact sent both vehicles down a dirt embankment. The occupants of the Nissan, Yvette Amezcua, 34; a Perris boy, 13; and a Murrieta man, 40, were all injured as a result of the crash. Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep was not injured.
Emergency crews arrived to the site of the collision shortly after. There, they pronounced 34-year-old Yvette Amezcua of Perris, dead at the scene. Additionally, medics transported the other two victims to Wildomar’s Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital for treatment.
Reports also state that the 52-year-old Bloomington woman driving the Nissan sustained minor injuries. She was also transported to the hospital.
