Matthew Heard Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on 19th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
46-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision on Peoria Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (April 14, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Matthew Heard was killed in a wrong-way accident on 19th Avenue.
The incident happened just after 3:00 a.m., at the intersection of 19th and Peoria Avenue on April 9th.
According to reports, 46-year-old Heard was heading east on Peoria when he veered into oncoming lanes and struck a westbound truck.
Medical personnel arrived and transported 46-year-old Heard to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. In addition, the driver and passenger inside the truck were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police later assessed the truck driver and confirmed that he displayed signs of impairment. As a result, officers processed him for DUI before he was later released.
