2-Year-Old Child Hurt in Two-Vehicle Collision near Niles Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 12, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a child was severely injured in a 2-car accident on King Street. 

Officers responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m., at the intersection of King Street and Niles Street in the city of Bakersfield. 

Per reports, the driver of a westbound sedan struck a pickup-truck that was traveling in the same direction on Niles Street. In addition, the sedan also struck the base of a utility pole.

Emergency crews discovered a toddler suffering from serious injuries in a forward-facing child safety seat inside the sedan. Medics transported the 2-year-old child to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

In addition, the involved drivers and passengers from both vehicles also received medical treatment. Bakersfield Officials closed the King Street intersection during cleanup and preliminary duties.
