1 Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Interstate 5

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 5, 2023) – Early Friday morning, one victim was fatally injured in a rollover accident on State Route 94. 

Police responded to the scene just after 4:00 a.m., near eastbound Interstate 5.

According to reports, the driver of a white Ford pickup-truck rear-ended a Honda Accord on the westbound lanes at high rate of speed. Upon impact, the pickup-truck overturned before coming to a stop.

The pickup driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, the 49-year-old Honda driver received minor injuries from the collision. 

At this time, San Diego Officials are investigating whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the rollover accident. Investigators requested Caltrans to close down the westbound lanes of State Route 94 for several hours, which reopened at 7:30 a.m.
