77-Year-Old Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash near Black Rail Court
CARLSBAD, CA (March 28, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a DUI injury collision in Carlsbad leads to the arrest of Lawrence Perez.
Police and medical personnel responded to the crash around 1:50 p.m. at the 6100 block of Aviara Parkway.
Upon arrival, paramedics located the 77-year-old bicyclist and transported him to a hospital for treatment of serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.
According to the police, a car struck the victim from behind for unknown reasons. Later, authorities located a damaged car parked outside an apartment complex at 1300 Laurel Tree Lane with a person sitting inside.
Officers identified the driver as 34-year-old Lawrence Perez of Carlsbad, who displayed signs of intoxication.
The police eventually booked Perez into Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
