Kenneth Shane Decker Killed in Crash on East Deer Trail [Tucson, AZ]
15-Year-Old Dirt Bike Rider Killed in Vehicle Collision on South Cathy Drive
TUCSON, AZ (March 27, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a dirt bike crash on East Deer Trail claimed the life of Kenneth Shane Decker.
The crash happened on March 19th at around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Deer Trail and South Cathy Drive.
According to the Tucson Police Department, 15-year-old Decker was riding a blue 1990 Kawasaki K1250 when he collided with a white 2007 GMC Sierra.
Investigation showed that Decker was traveling north on South Cathy Avenue and failed to yield at a stop sign which caused him to collide with the Sierra traveling eastbound.
Furthermore, police said that Decker was driving without a driver’s license. Authorities transported the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital for the treatment of injuries.
Unfortunately, moments after he was taken, he did not survive his injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Consequently, the driver of the Sierra remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. No arrests or citations have been made.
Police said that speed and failing to yield are the major factors in the crash. Further investigation is still underway.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Kenneth Shane Decker.
