Cameron Patterson Dies in Speeding Collision on Madsen Avenue [Fresno, CA]
1 Pronounced Dead after Speeding Car Accident near Herndon Avenue
FRESNO, CA (March 27, 2023) – Wednesday night, 18-year-old Cameron Patterson was killed in a speeding collision on Madsen Avenue.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m., near the intersection of Madsen and Herndon Avenue on March 22nd.
According to the CHP, Marcos Zuniga II was speeding when he attempted to turn onto westbound Herndon. Zuniga then lost control of his vehicle and veered into the Friant-Kern Canal.
Three of the four occupants inside the car managed to escape and swam to safety, while one remained trapped inside the vehicle.
Responding paramedics then transported two of the victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment, while the driver, Zuniga, was treated and released at the scene.
Police later recovered the car from the water, discovered Patterson inside, and declared him dead.
Officers believe the high-speed and wet roadway from the active rainfall that day is the likely cause of the crash. However, an active investigation is underway. Fresno County police officers will release further information once available.
