Ilya Shamailov Arrested following Suspected DUI Crash on Butterball Way
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (March 16, 2023) – Monday night, Jamel Tyrone Oliver was killed in a suspected DUI crash on Elkhorn Boulevard
The incident happened on March 13th, at around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and Butterball Way.
According to reports, Shamailov, in a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling on Elkhorn Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The Corvette then struck Oliver who was crossing the street.
Emergency crews arrived to the site of the accident shortly after. There, they pronounced 32-year-old Jamel Tyrone Oliver dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics treated Shamailov for minor injuries onsite.
Following the collision, California Highway Patrol arrested 32-year-old Ilya Shamailov, of Brooklyn, NY, on suspicion of DUI.
Reports state that Shamailov had a female passenger with him. At this time, the identity of the passenger has not been released, and her condition is unknown.
