Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 58 [Bakersfield, CA]
Five-Vehicle Collision H Street Left 55-Year-Old Man Dead and Another Man Hospitalized
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 7, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 58 left one man dead and another man hospitalized.
The incident happened on March 2nd, just before 4:00 p.m., on Highway 58 and H Street near South Chester Avenue.
According to reports, at least five vehicles were involved in the collision; two pickup trucks and three semi-trucks. Investigators state that the driver of a 2016 Kenworth semi-truck did not notice that traffic had stopped and collided with a GMC Sierra pushing it forward. The Kenworth then struck a Toyota Tacoma, flipping it onto its side. The Kenworth then hit a trailer towed by a Volvo semi-truck causing the Volvo to rear-end a trailer pulled by a Peterbilt semi-truck.
Responding emergency personnel transported the drivers of the Kenworth and the GMC Sierra to Kern Medical for significant injuries.
There, the GMC driver succumbed to their injuries. Medics pronounced them dead due to the extent of their injuries.
