Copperopolis Man and Stockton Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash near Dunton Road

CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA (March 6, 2023) – Monday morning, two drivers sustained fatal injuries following a head-on collision on Highway 4. 

The fatal incident happened around 6:30 a.m., just west of Dunton Road. 

Investigators learned that an eastbound 2010 Honda Insight crossed the double-yellow lines and collided with a westbound 2004 Toyota Tacoma.

Due to the impact of the crash, the 21-year-old female driver from Stockton and the 51-year-old male Toyota driver from Copperopolis died at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, the identities of the deceased drivers remain undisclosed to the public pending notification from their next of kin. Once available, further details will be provided about the head-on collision on Highway 4.
