Hit-and-Run Driver near 19th Street Fatally Struck One 100-Year-Old Man

OAKLAND, CA (February 23, 2023) – Sunday morning, a hit-and-run collision on Harrison Street claimed the life of Tzu-Ta Ko. 

Officers responded to the fatal incident around 7:00 a.m. at 19th and Harrison, near Lake Merritt and Snow Park. 

Upon arrival, officers located the male victim suffering from severe head injuries. Emergency personnel declared 100-year-old Tzu-Ta Ko dead at the scene, despite their life-saving efforts. 

At this time, authorities are searching for the suspect, seen driving a white or tan Mini Cooper. 

Oakland officials also offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who can give information about the hit-and-run driver’s whereabouts. 

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
