26-Year-Old Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle DUI Accident near B Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 17, 2023) – Early Monday, a female passenger was killed and a driver was arrested after a DUI crash on First Avenue.
Police responded to the scene around 3:00 a.m., in the 1200 block of First Avenue near B Street on February 6th.
Per reports, the 24-year-old female driver of a 2003 Toyota was heading north at a high rate of speed. Suddenly, she crashed into a guard rail abutment near the Civic Center Parkade ramp.
Upon impact, the Toyota overturned and ejected a female passenger from the vehicle onto the road. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the 26-year-old woman at the scene due to head trauma.
During preliminary investigations, officers determined that the driver was impaired. As a result, officers took her into custody with DUI related charges.
Investigators also say that the female passenger was not wearing a seat belt at the time. Once available, further details will be provided.
