Lorenzo Antonio Morales-Cortes Hurt in Fatal DUI Crash near Highway 41 [Madera, CA]
19-Year-Old Woman Killed in DUI Collision near Avenue 15
MADERA, CA (February 15, 2023) – Sunday evening, Lorenzo Antonio Morales-Cortes was hospitalized after a fatal DUI crash near Highway 41.
The incident happened on February 12th, at around 6:00 p.m. near Avenue 15, just west of Road 39 ½.
According to initial investigations, Morales-Cortes, in a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro crossed into the other lane directly into a path of a Mini Cooper. The two vehicles collided head-on, leaving the two drivers with serious injuries.
As a result of the crash, a 19-year-old Madera woman sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. However, her identity remains undisclosed pending notification from the next of kin.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Camaro driver, identified as 24-year-old Lorenzo Antonio Morales-Cortes of Fresno, to a trauma center for treatment of major injuries.
Police later stated that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision.
