Man Killed, 2 Hurt in Rear-End Collision on 40th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
Male Passenger Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Rollover Crash near West Peoria Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (February 10, 2023) – Sunday morning, one man was killed and two others were hurt in a rear-end collision on 40th Avenue.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Day just after midnight near West Peoria Avenue on January 1st.
According to reports, the driver of an SUV rear-ended another car for reasons unknown. Upon impact, the vehicle that was hit struck a nearby wall and overturned.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced a male passenger inside the SUV dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.
Meanwhile, paramedics took both drivers to a nearby hospital for further treatment of minor injuries.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. Following preliminary duties, officers believe that intoxication and speed may be a factor in the rear-end collision on 40th Avenue. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
