Two-Vehicle Collision near Bonita Avenue Resulted in One Fatality

SANTA ROSA, CA (February 9, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a head-on collision on River Road left one person dead and two others hospitalized. 

The collision occurred around 10:45 a.m. near Bonita Avenue in the city of Santa Rosa, per initial reports. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound GMC Canyon traveling at a high rate of speed veered to the left for unknown reasons. 

Subsequently, the GMC collided head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet, leaving its driver with fatal injuries. 

Responding emergency personnel declared the Chevrolet driver dead at the scene. However, their identity remains undisclosed pending notification from the next of kin.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old male driver of the GMC suffered from minor injuries. His 43-year-old male passenger from Guerneville received significant injuries. 

Both patients were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for medical treatment as crews blocked the road for several hours to conduct an investigation.
