55-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision on Woodman Avenue
VAN NUYS, CA (February 8, 2023) – Friday night, Peter Escalante was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Oxnard Street.
Police responded to the scene around 10:15 p.m., near the intersection of Oxnard Street and Woodman Avenue on February 3rd.
According to reports, Escalante was crossing the street when he was struck by a dark-colored westbound vehicle. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without contacting authorities or rendering aid to the injured victim.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 55-year-old Escalante dead at the scene.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Police later posted a reward of $50,000 to whoever can give information about the driver. Once available, further details will be provided.
