Martin Padilla Dies in Wrong-Way Crash on Temescal Canyon Road [Corona, CA]
Daniel Saul Cortez Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on Leroy Road
CORONA, CA (February 1, 2023) – Early Friday morning, a crash on Temescal Canyon Road left Martin Padilla dead and Daniel Saul Cortez injured.
The incident took place on Janurary 27th, at around 4:45 a.m., near the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and Leroy Road.
According to reports, Padilla was driving northbound on Temescal Canyon Road. Cortez, traveling southbound on Temescal Canyon Road, veered into the northbound lanes and into oncoming traffic. As they approached Leroy Road, the two vehicles collided head-on. The impact of the crash left both drivers with injuries, and trapped Padilla in his car.
First responders arrived shortly after and extricated Padilla from his vehicle. However, despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 47-year-old Martin Padilla dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics transported 30-year-old Daniel Saul Cortez to a local hospital for treatment. Police later arrested Cortez on charges of DUI.
At this time, further investigation into the DUI crash is currently underway.
